hole in the proof/unc collections...

There is a possible hole in my Proof ASE collection.

With the announcement that the mint will produce 5oz Ag replicas of the United States Mint America the Beautiful Quarters™ Program :10_1_19: on how the
'09 proof was not minted.

Should the Eagles we know Au/Ag/Pt, now be changed?

DO NOT CHANGE THE SILVER EAGLES!!!!

The silver eagles will always be worth more, this is why....

The 1 ounce silver eagle's face value is $1.00.
The 5 ounce silver quarters will have a face value of $0.25.

I think the U.S. Mint has high hopes that American dollar will one day far exceed the value of silver. Here's to wishful thinking on their part, or a very lame attempt of a joke to serious collectors.

No ASE proof collection can be complete w/o the '95-W. Major bottleneck there at 30,100 or so minted. They are trading much lower now than in the past, I would recommend now might be a good time to procure one.

I think the mint screwed up by not producing a larger quantity. The price of one of those is a little (ok, a lot) steeper than I can see paying for 1 ounce of silver.

If you are doing a date run, the '95-W IMO does not have to be included.

Adding the '95-W to the set would also incorporate the Au coins as well.I don't think one should purchase the '95-W w/o the Au Eagles.

Now if doing a type set...

You are right that somehow it just doesn't seem proper to break up the 1995 10th anniversary set just to extract the silver Eagle. But judging by the number of single '95-w ase's and incomplete '95 sets I've seen on ebay and at coin shows over the years, it must be a very high percentage. If you get this coin at $2500 you are buying low, IMO, as it has traded as high as 5K in the past. At this point the set seems an even better deal as the last few completed ebay auctions brought $5800 or so, while 4 coin sets are fetching $3750.
The ever-growing population (and potential popularity) of the ASE series would seem to cement the deep-key status of this coin. Coins go thru hot-cold cycles and this one is at the bottom of the cycle now, IMO.
